Great Shoes for the Price!

I'd been eyeing some Monk Strap Shoes for a while, but Meermin and Carmina were just out of my budget. Decent shoes, long lead time

I ordered a pair of their Semi-Bespoke Shoes. The communication about sizing and options was good, and the final product is truly excellent quality, especially the leather. However, the lead time was quite long, about 8 weeks, which felt a bit extended even for custom work. The packaging was a bit basic for such premium shoes, too. Overall, I'm happy with the shoes themselves, but the wait and presentation could be better.

How do these compare to Meermin? I've got a couple pairs from Meermin and curious if Blkbrd is a step up or just different.

I'd say they're definitely a step up from Meermin, especially their hand-welted stuff. The finishing and leather quality felt a bit better in my opinion. Carmina is probably a closer comparison.

Yeah, most people put them above Meermin for quality and construction, especially if you go for the hand-welted. Meermin is good for the price, but Blkbrd feels more refined.

They do, but it's not super often. I think I saw a Black Friday one last year and maybe a clearance sale once. You could sign up for their newsletter, sometimes they send out a first-order discount.

Yeah, sales are rare. Don't expect huge drops either, maybe 10-20% off at most. Usually, it's for specific events like Diwali or end-of-season stuff.

I'm usually a 9.5D in Allen Edmonds, how would that translate for Blkbrd? Is their sizing pretty standard or should I size down/up?

It really depends on the last they use for the specific shoe. Their website has a guide for each last with measurements and recommendations. I'd definitely check that out before ordering.

I found their sizing pretty true to size for my usual dress shoe size. But for sure, compare your foot measurements to their chart. Better safe than sorry with expensive shoes.
